Las Vegas police say one suspect located deceased in shooting at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a suspect was located and is deceased in a shooting at UNLV on Wednesday.

UNLV first reported the incident in a post on X at about 11:53 a.m., saying, “University Police responding to report of shots fire in BEH evacuate to a safe area, RUN-HIDE-FIGHT.”

In a second post at 11:59 a.m., the school updated that University Police were “responding to a confirmed active shooter situation in BEH. This is not a test.”

Las Vegas police confirmed at 12:04 p.m. that officers were responding to preliminary reports of an active shooter on UNLV’s campus. “There appears to be multiple victims at this time,” LVMPD said, advising people to avoid the area.

UNLV said in another post at about 12:19 p.m. that authorities were responding to an additional report of shots fired in the student union. “Evacuate the area,” the post said.

At about 12:32 p.m., Las Vegas police updated that one suspect had been located and was deceased.

UNLV at 12:58 p.m. advised to continue to shelter in place. “Police are evacuating buildings one at a time,” the school says.
