Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee announced that he had dedicated himself to Christianity during his final show on his farewell tour on Sunday.
“My people, this day for me is the most important day of my life. And I want to share it with you because living a life of success is not the same as living a life with purpose,” the artist, born Ramón Ayala, shared in Spanish while on the stage in his native Puerto Rico.
“I have to confess that those days are over. Someone was able to fill that emptiness,” he sobbed, noting that he had not felt fulfilled throughout some time in his career.
According to The Christian Post, Ayala went on to share that despite the accolades in his career, he quoted Mark Mark 8:36, which reads, “What good will it be for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?”
“That is why tonight, I recognize, and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him,” he said as the crowd applauded.
Ayala also shared that he will go by his birth name going forward.
