Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina just announced that he is retiring from Congress. After he finishes serving his current term, the former acting Speaker of the House will not be seeking re-election.
Congressman McHenry dropped the news on Twitter:
I will be retiring from Congress at the end of my current term. I believe there is a season for everything and—for me—this season has come to an end. I look forward to what comes next for my family and me.https://t.co/QCVurSYuhm

Rep. Patrick McHenry was Congress’s first Acting Speaker of the House after Kevin McCarthy was ousted in October. He is one of nearly 40 members of Congress who will be retiring at the end of their term.
