Darren Beattie, a former speechwriter for President Trump and founder of Revolver News, has been appointed to a top position in the U.S. State Department.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio tapped Beattie to be acting undersecretary of state for public diplomacy. “The Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy leads Department efforts to expand and strengthen the relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other countries,” reads a job description on the department’s website. “The bureaus and offices reporting to the Under Secretary advance national interests by seeking to engage, inform, and understand the perspectives of foreign audiences.”
If Beattie is to serve in the role in a full-time capacity, he will need to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
