Tom Homan, President Trump’s border czar, has threatened to prosecute Governor Phil Murphy (D-NJ) following Murphy’s comments about potentially housing an individual with unresolved immigration status.
During a public forum, Governor Murphy mentioned offering accommodation to someone in his circle whose immigration status was pending, adding, “And good luck to the feds coming in to try to get her.”
“I don’t want to get into too much detail, but there’s someone in our broader universe whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to and we said, ‘You know what, let’s have her live at our house above our garage,’” Murphy said Saturda in Montclair, New Jersey.
Murphy’s office later attempted to clarify his comments, with a representative telling The New York Post on Monday that he had been “misinterpreted.”
In response, Homan stated on Fox News’ “Hannity” that if Governor Murphy is knowingly harboring and concealing an illegal alien, it would violate Title 8, United States Code 1324, which prohibits such actions. He revealed his intent to seek prosecution if these claims are substantiated.
