The jewel in the crown of Los Angeles lies in the gutter and it’s time for the new Trump alliance to pick it up. If we are to annex Greenland, the Panama Canal, and perhaps more, we must first offer a viable and flourishing governance model for residents trapped in blue cities within blue states. The great Los Angeles fires have exposed the rot within the political machine governing the city of Angels. But they also provide the Trump administration, alongside its growing counter-elite — especially its Silicon Valley faction — with a unique opportunity to act decisively and just do things inside the worst-governed city in America.
