On Thursday morning, Fox News reporter Lawrence Jones seemed caught off guard when he asked a diner full of Georgia residents whether they support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis or former President Donald Trump in the race to become the GOP nominee in 2024.
The reporter was interviewing Georgians in the lead-up to the upcoming debate between DeSantis and California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom set to take place on Thursday night.
When Jones asked the group if they thought DeSantis would win the primary, the room went silent, but when Trump’s name was asked, cheers erupted from the raucous crowd. The result was so definitive that Jones followed up, “Should I even ask another candidate at this point?”
The Citizen Free Press described the encounter thusly, “Fox asks Georgia voters who they think will win the primary. ‘Who thinks DeSantis is going to win?’ :Crickets: ‘Who thinks Trump is going to win.’”
