Dow Chemical Co.’s board of directors has reached a final investment decision on the company’s Path2Zero ethylene cracker and derivatives facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, the company announced Tuesday.
The first of its kind facility seeks to lower Scope 1 and 2 emissions while increasing the company’s ethylene and polyethylene capacities by roughly 2 million metric tons/year. This move will also help to decarbonize Dow’s global ethylene capacity by 20% and provide around $1 billion of EBITDA growth per year.
