A 13-year-old girl hit 70 m.p.h. in a stolen car while trying to outrun law enforcement during a pursuit through Lincoln Sunday night according to the Nebraska State Patrol.A trooper spotted the suspected stolen Hyundai Elantra around 10:00 p.m. Sunday, half-an hour after it was reported stolen from 17th and South Streets in Lincoln.The driver accelerated and fled as the trooper tried to stop the driver near 14th & Superior. The driver first went north on 14th Street through a residential neighborhood and then returned south, driving in the northbound lanes.The State Patrol says the driver reached 70 m.p.h. while approaching 27th Street at F. The driver then ran a red light, lost control and hit a pole. The Patrol says the trooper backed-off the pursuit shortly before the crash.The 13-year-old driver and a 17-year old passenger, both girls, were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver then was taken to a youth detention facility on charges of theft by unlawful taking, flight to avoid arrest and having no operator’s license.
