A small handful of democratic states are finding themselves at odds with President-elect Donald Trump’s policies as he prepares to take office. The sticking points include the handling of illegal immigration, abortion, energy policies, and climate change. New York is presently the most vocal about considering seceding and becoming a province of Canada, according to WND. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker are democrats who have formed a new alliance in which they intend to resist Trump policies with which they are in disagreement, according to Reuters.
The name of the alliance is Governors Safeguarding Democracy. A few other democrats who are supportive of the alliance include Washington State’s Attorney General Bob Ferguson, California Governor Gavin Newsom, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell.
Though the website for the organization claims that it’s non-partisan, when Pritzker was asked who the Republican governors are that are a part of the alliance, he wouldn’t give any specifics.
