In California’s crucial US Senate contest, Democrats were undecided about who to support; among convention delegates, none of the contenders received 60% of the vote.
Democrat Reps. Adam Schiff and Barbara Lee received the greatest support from the convention to succeed the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in 2024, with 40% and 41% of the vote, respectively. Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) received 16% of the votes cast on Saturday among the 2322 delegates who cast ballots. Another 2% of voters decided not to support any candidate.
Prior to the general election on November 5, the candidates are vying in California’s open top-two primary on March 5, the Washington Examiner reported.
The outcomes of the weekend’s convention, which were made public on Sunday, indicate that the delegates who attended the three-day gathering in Sacramento had more liberal political views.
The University of California, Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies polled likely voters earlier this month and found that Schiff was trailing Porter with only 17% of the vote. Since the summer, this number…
