President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that he plans to attend the inauguration of the next commander-in-chief regardless of who wins the race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“This president believes in the peaceful transfer of power, and that’s what you’re going to see this president do,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “It’s not about him. It’s about the American people. That’s what the American people need to see regardless of who wins.”
“He certainly is going to partake in that,” she added.
The administration spokeswoman did not mention that Trump chose to skip Biden’s inauguration because of personal differences between him and his running mate, then-former President Barack Obama. Trump had discovered the two of them likely plotted with various factions within the government to saddle him with a false “Russian collusion” narrative.
