TWO toddlers have been found dead inside an abandoned car in the backyard of a home in Australia.
Police described the incident as a “tragic accident” after discovering the bodies of the boys, aged 2 and 3, inside an unused vehicle in a central Queensland town last night.
The two-year-old was first found unconscious and not breathing at 7.48pm last night in the backseat by family members.
He was rushed to the hospital but unable to be resuscitated and declared dead.
Police then later made the horror second discovery of the three-year-old boy lying dead near the footwell at 9.15pm.
“He wasn’t seen by the residents when they located the first child,” Central Region Crime Coordinator Darrin Shadlow said.
Shadlow confirmed that the youngsters were related but not siblings in a press conference this morning, The Mail reports.
One victim was a Woorabinda resident and the other was visiting the small town, which has a population of around 1,000.
He stated the cause of their deaths is not yet known.
